Lawyers Without Borders: A Brief Introduction

Wai Yin: Good morning, Mr Harvey! We are so excited to be here with you, thank you so much for accepting our invitation. Before we begin, I’m just going to give you a little brief about Lawyers Without Borders. While the international headquarters were established in 2000, our own student division here at Queen’s was only recently established in 2019. Our core aim is to promote the pro-bono cause, which is providing legal assistance to the public, but since we’re students, and can’t really offer formal legal advice, we aim to create platforms and events that raise awareness around human rights and the rule of law. For example, we’ve run training sessions on migration awareness and hate crime response, and we’re currently organising a human rights moot, led by our secretary Saffron. So that’s a little introduction about our society!

Mr Harvey: Great, thank you.
